Addressing Substance Misuse Among Pregnant Women
Giving home visitors a chance to practice conversation about substance misuse
Project Background
The National Center on Early Childhood Health and Wellness was developing materials to help home visitation programs prepare for situations involving substance use during pregnancy and asked us to create training content.
Funded by: U.S. Department of Health & Human Services
Our Work
We developed an interactive, story-based training module that features a fictional story about a young woman who is pregnant with her first child. In the module, the learner sees everything from the point of view of a home visitor. As the story unfolds over multiple visits, the learner chooses questions and discovers the woman is considering using some leftover pain medication because she is experiencing back pain.
