Captain Kayla and the Basketball Scientists
Explaining research and biobanks for pediatric assent
Project Background
A bioethics researcher asked us to develop a pediatric assent comic book to explain research and biobank concepts to children between the ages of 7 and 17.
Client: University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Our Work
We created a narrative-driven comic book about a high school basketball team that learns about research. The subplot of the story is the team captain being asked to become a participant in a biobank research study. The story uses humor and memorable visuals to help young readers understand the context of what they are being asked.
